Time for Tea and Talk - an update for Open Up

open up initiative, south west, workshops,

Time for Tea and Talk has got off to a flying start with workshops delivered at Flybe, Devon and Cornwall Police, North Devon College and Torbay Hospital.  We were delighted to have become fully booked really quickly and continue to be contacted by organisations who would like us to visit them.  We have a begun a waiting list in the hope of keeping in contact with people and providing more workshops in the future.

It has been great to see people really engaging and beginning to chat more openly about their experiences of mental health.  We designed a quiz exploring myths and facts and this has been a huge hit in encouraging people to join in and really think about some of the realities surrounding stigma and discrimination.  Some people have been taken aback by some of the revelations and you can really see ‘the penny drop’.  At the end of the workshop we are asking people to make personal pledges and have been moved by people’s contributions.

Workshops will be continuing throughout January, going to different corners of Devon, and an evaluation report will be out in February.

Sounds like you have been very busy, and its great to hear that the workshops are in such demand. The personal pledges are a great idea, would be interesting to hear more about what kinds of things people are pledging to do.
