Progress report: volunteers still needed

The Well's picture

I thought I would try to add to this blog every month after I met up with Lyn, but that didn't happen in the middle of December, so here I am, it's January, and a little word to the world to keep anyone who is interested up to date.

Where to start... I put on my plan of action that I would have 7 - 10 new volunteers by Christmas.  It is 7th January, and I definately have 3 volunteers and have some more people that I'm hoping will sign up.  Don't know if they will or not.  I am praying that enough people will show up! I have decided that training needs to go ahead on 26th January no matter how many people I have and see how it goes.  I need to stop work on trying to recruit and actually put some training together soon.

Putting this programme together on my own is hard and lonely.  Some days I am really excited by what this project can achieve.  Sometimes I get excited when people talk about this being a pilot that if successful might be rolled out across the city.  Sometimes I think it is just amazing how much good this programme could do.

But other days like today, it's just me and my computer.  I have cancelled our usual group meeting today because of the snow and the ice - two of my volunteers can't come and I know most of my ladies won't be venturing out in the sub-zero temperatures either!  On days like today it all seems a bit much for little old me.  Who am I to think that I can pull this off?

The good news is, I should be taking on someone to work with me from the week after next.  This should help the lonelyness, should help me focus, and help it all seem a bit more real.

Not much more to say for now...

Don't fall into the well, stay on top, YOU CAN DO IT!

Hi I know exactly how you feel. You have managed to write what I, and I should think all of us initiatives are, or at some time this year, will be going through! Yes it's hard, more than hard, but also the end result will be more than worth all the work and hard effort you have already put in. I'm glad you have someone to work with now, but don't forget we are all part of the team, a family aiming for the same outcome and though not physically by your side, speaking for myself, I am happy for you to contact me. Motivation I think is an exhausting word, just hearing it pulls me downwards so I use Perseverance instead. When the going gets tough the tough get going - and aren't we the tough ones?!

Take care and best wishes from Jenny in Cornwall

Hi there and happy new year, Allison -

Have you still got anita's and my tel numbers and my email address - janiegreville@hotmail.com?

Use it. It's f-ing hard when ur working alone and you need to be using all the support you can lay your hands on - and then - hey presto - suddenly everything will change amazingly and you'll be absolutely having a ball!

Trust me on this one. It won't happen over night but it'll happen n once it does there will be no looking back.

Drop me an email allison n let me have ur tel no I'll give you a call = help is just an email away. Without having got together the team that's now MM can't see myself having got anywhere near so far so fast - let's hold hands through this journey - your project's a brilliant idea, it's going to be a resounding success

Hugs, Janie :-) / MissionMiraculus

keep at it Alison!

We're all gunning for you, and we believe you can do it! And the more people you get on board, the less isolating it will be, I imagine. It's a great idea so I'm sure the more people find out about it, the more volunteers you will get.

Don't let the snow get you down!

Progress Report

That's great news that you've found someone to work with! It is really hard to keep motivated when you're working by yourself so well done for what you've already achieved.  Good luck for the training on the 26th.
