Feedback for Khamoshi
I have been pleased in the last two weeks to receive some very encouraging feedback about Khamoshi. Khamoshi is an Open Up London Initiative and they have recently been performing their play about mental health and domestic violence in the South Asian community. I would like to share some of the audience's comments with you below.
"Very touching and real...the message was very clear and I could actually think of my own client group going through the similar trauma."
"Profound and hardhitting. None of the scenes were under/overplayed, yet it made a huge impact. Script and dialogues were easy to follow and not too heavy".
"Truly reflective of Asian reality."
"Non-Asians working with Asian clients may not often be aware of the stigma attached to mental health. This could be used as a vehicle to address this need to educate and inform existing and future non-Asian care workers".
I have been privileged enough to witness the development of the piece through the its original conception and the rehearsal process so it was very satisfying to see the end result at the preview at the end of last month. I felt very proud of everyone in the group, both for all the hard creative work they had put in, and for their bravery in standing up on stage and talking about such a sensitive issue.
