How to use the web

How to increase the text size
If you'd like the text on this site to appear in a bigger size, you can click on the AAA buttons in the top left hand corner of the screen.
You can also increase the font size setting of your web browser. On Internet Explorer or Netscape you should go to the 'View' menu in the top left hand corner, select 'Text Size' and click on one of the options. Other browsers, such as AOL or Opera, will have similar features.
In Netscape and Mozilla you can also make the text size zoom in and out by pressing the Ctrl and Minus, or Ctrl and Plus keys simultaneously.
How to use Adobe Acrobat
PDF files on the site are best viewed using Acrobat Reader. This is free software which you can download now from Adobe.
How to translate this site
This is an English language site but if you want to translate part of it, AltaVista's free Babel Fish Translation Service offers several major languages.
Language
Although there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to talking about mental distress, we’ve found that people prefer the language of distress, recovery, survival and pride to that of diagnostic labels. However, many people contribute to the interactive areas of this site and, in doing so use their own terminology to talk about their experiences. We respect their right to do so.
At Open Up we do not wish to tell people how they should talk about their experiences. As a project, we have our own policies about the language we prefer to use – if you would like to find out more, you can download our .
